Which version of The Mysterious Stranger by Mark Twain should I read?

I know there are multiple publications and I'm looking for the one most true to the author. I know there was an edition that was fairly ruined by A.B. Paine, so I'm trying to steer clear of that one...but there's still a couple left and I'm not so sure which to go with. Any help is greatly appreciated!
